A Pick and place robots application for metallurgical manufacturers

Thanks to this flexible solution for assembly, the robotic arm equipped with pliers, suction cups and instructed by the vision system, takes the piece and places it in the press, then removes the workpiece after it has been pressed.

What are the advantages of the pick and place robot system?

  • Adapts to your production process, no modification to existing presses.
  • The process becomes more efficient, without pauses or interruptions.
  • Increases the safety of workers, replacing an activity with a high risk of accidents and low added value (and for this reason often unwelcome to workers).
  • It pays off quickly thanks to the possibility of working continuously.

The innovative answer to the current industry 4.0 feeding requirements.
FlexiBowl® is a flexible feeding device that can be easily integrated with every robot and vision system.
Entire families of parts within 1-250 mm and 1-250 g can be handled by a single FlexiBowl® replacing a whole set of dedicated vibratory bowl feeders.
Its lack of dedicated tooling and its easy to use and intuitive programming software allows quick product changeovers inside the same work shift.
New parts teaching and production changeovers can be made in a matter of minutes.

FlexiBowl® is the ideal feeding solution for Automotive, Cosmetic, Electronic, Medical, Toys & Gadgets, Electrical Component; and it is suitable for any application requiring multiple parts handling and frequent changeovers.

Pick and place robots are used in many ways for automation of the product being handled and the manufacturer’s need.
There are the main operations that pick and place robots are used:

  • Assembly: pick and place robots grab an incoming part from a conveyor belt and then place this part onto another workpiece, which is then typically carried away by another conveyor.
  • Packaging: this operation is similar to assembly processes. A pick and place robot grabs a part on an incoming conveyor belt and, rather than assemble the part, the robot places it in a packaging container.
  • Bin Picking: pick and place robots equipped with advanced 3D vision systems can grab a part out of a bin, sometimes even when parts are randomly mixed together in a bin, and place this part on a conveyor.
  • Inspection: vision systems can monitor products moving on an incoming conveyor belt and detect defective products, and then a pick and place robot removes the defective product.
